Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2 October 2026

This policy explains what personal information the Maths Mama mobile app and this website (mathsmamasurajsir.com) collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and what choices you have. We have tried to keep it short and in plain English.

The short version

  • We collect only what we need to run your account, your classes and your tests.
  • We do not sell your information. The app has no advertising and no advertising trackers.
  • You log in with a code we send to your email. Your phone number is collected so we can contact you, but it is not verified.
  • You can delete your account yourself, at any time, from inside the app (Profile, then Delete account), or by asking us by email. See our Delete your account page.

1. Who we are

Maths Mama is an online maths coaching app for students of Class 11 and Class 12, run by Maths Mama Edtech, India ("we", "us", "our"). We are the party that decides how your personal information in the app and on this website is used.

Email: mathsmamaedtech@gmail.com

2. What we collect, and why

WhatDetailsWhy we need it
Account details Your name, email address and mobile number, which you type in when you sign up. To create and run your account, to send your login code by email, and to contact you about your classes. Your phone number is not verified and we do not send you SMS or WhatsApp codes.
Login and session data The one-time email code (kept only in scrambled, hashed form and valid for 5 minutes); login tokens that keep you signed in (kept hashed, valid for 30 days); a random device ID the app creates on your phone; the app version and phone platform (Android or iOS). To let you in securely, keep you signed in, and prevent misuse.
Course access Which courses or levels you can open (for example Class 11 or 12, Board, JEE Main, JEE Advanced), the start and end dates of your access, and any note our team adds when granting access. To unlock the right content for you.
Tests (CBT) Your answers, questions you flagged, time spent on each question, when you started and submitted, your marks, accuracy, rank and percentile, the app version and device ID, and the IP address you used while taking the test. To run timed tests, save your answers, mark them, show your results and rank, and keep tests fair and secure.
Doubts The questions you type, any photos you attach, the chapter you chose, times, and the replies from our teachers. To answer your doubts. Photos are stored in private storage and shown only through short-lived links.
Parent-teacher meetings Whether you were invited to a meeting, and the meeting link we shared. To invite you and send reminders.
Notifications An identifier that links your device to your Maths Mama account so our notification providers can deliver push notifications to it (see section 5). We do not store your phone's push token ourselves. To tell you about doubt replies, meetings and other class updates. You can switch notifications off in your phone settings.
Videos When you play a lecture, our server checks that you have access and issues a short-lived signed link. A slowly moving watermark showing your phone number (or email if there is no phone number) is drawn over the video. On Android the app blocks screenshots and screen recording. To deliver video only to students who have access, and to discourage piracy of our lectures.
Course access records Which courses our team has given you access to, the dates of that access, and any reference our team records for it. The app does not sell anything and never asks for card, bank or UPI details. To give you access and to keep accounting and tax records.
Messages to us What you send us by email or WhatsApp, and your contact details. To reply and support you.
Technical logs Our servers keep technical logs of requests, which can include your IP address (for example when too many login codes are requested). Logs are rotated automatically. To keep the service secure, stop abuse and fix errors.

On your phone. Your login tokens are kept in your phone's secure storage. While you take a test, your answers are also saved on the phone so the test can continue if your internet drops; this saved test data and your session are cleared when you log out. The app asks for camera or photo access only when you choose to attach a photo to a doubt. It does not use your location, contacts or microphone.

What we do not collect. We do not collect card or bank details, your location, your contacts, or your government ID numbers. The app contains no advertising SDKs and no separate analytics or crash-reporting SDKs.

3. How login works

Students do not need a password. You enter your email address, we email you a six-digit code, and you type it into the app. The code works once, expires after 5 minutes, and is locked after too many wrong attempts. You can also type your phone number as your login name; the code is still sent to the email address on that account. Your mobile number is collected at sign-up only so that we can contact you. We do not verify it and we do not send codes to it.

4. How we use your information

  • To create your account, log you in, and give you the courses you have access to.
  • To run tests, mark them, and show results, rank and percentile.
  • To answer your doubts and run parent-teacher meetings.
  • To send service messages: login codes, doubt replies, meeting reminders and important updates.
  • To keep the service secure, prevent misuse and piracy, and fix problems.
  • To keep accounting records and meet our legal obligations.

We do not use your information for advertising, we do not build advertising profiles, and we do not make automated decisions about you.
